Through the tribulations of the victims of an earthquake in Los Angeles, here is a sound and dramatic object of a new genre, inspired by classic opera as much as Broadway musicals. Performed by young artists from the Brussels Conservatory under the direction of the Khroma

After an earthquake in Los Angeles in January 1994 (a magnitude of 6.7 on the Richer scale - not the Big One but still ...), the composer John Adams and his librettist June Jordan set out to leave testimonies of seven victims a fresco of contemporary society. The founding element, the seismic chaos, serves as a seesaw to tell the before, the after, but also the class interactions (the epicenter of the earthquake was in a poor suburb) and, above all, love. The Belgian company Khroma , formed around Enrico Bagnoli and Marianne Pousseur, launches with fervor on a colorful and naked stage in a Broadway of the rubble.
