Probably the most famous hairdresser in music history is finally reopening its salon in the STAATSTHEATER. Cutting hair, spinning intrigues and doing business are just a few of his many talents, which he praises in his well-known performance song. He will also have to use these skills, because together with his friend Count Almaviva, his lover Rosina has to be taken out of the clutches of her guardian Dr. To free Bartolo, who is after her inheritance. In order to win Rosina's heart for Almaviva and outsmart the old booby, the bustling duo can use any means.

With The Barber of Seville , Rossini set the benchmark for opera buffa par excellence. One crazy situation chases the next, always driven by the pulse of his lively music. Director Martin G. Berger, who was recently awarded the DER FAUST theater prize for best director, stages the classic opera as a colorful spectacle. All performers hang on to strings like in the Augsburger Puppenkiste and perform the greatest tricks until they emancipate themselves from their puppeteer and go their own way. In cooperation with the Dortmund Theater, his much-praised production can now be seen at the STAATSTHEATER.
