The barber of Siviglia
Love, cunning and money - these are the ingredients from which Gioachino Rossini made his most popular opera buffa Il barbiere di Sivigliahas mixed. The story goes like this: two young people love each other (Count Almaviva and Rosina), two old people try to thwart this love (Rosina's guardian Dr. Bartolo, who wants her dowry, and the schemer Don Basilio), supplemented by a shrewd head who not only knows his way around hairstyles, but is also the first address for love affairs (Figaro). Since its premiere in 1816, Rossini's comedy, based on Beaumarchais' play of the same name, has lost none of its freshness. Impossible to surrender to the rhythmic pull, the crescendo spirals, the crazy ensembles or aria highlights like Figaro's tongue twister Largo al factotumto withdraw! For our revival, Maxim Mironov, who has made a name for himself in particular as a celebrated Rossini tenor, comes to Zurich as Almaviva. His Rosina is the Italian mezzo-soprano Serena Malfi. As the witty Figaro, baritone Andrzej Filonczyk spins the intrigues that lead to a happy ending. The musical director is the sensitive expert in the Italian repertoire Enrique Mazzola.

Liebe, List und Geld – das sind die Zutaten, aus denen Gioachino Rossini seine populärste Opera buffa Il barbiere di Siviglia gemixt hat. Die Geschichte geht so: Zwei junge Leute lieben sich (der Graf Almaviva und Rosina), zwei Alte versuchen, diese Liebe zu hintertreiben (Rosinas Vormund Dr. Bartolo, der es auf ihre Mitgift abgesehen hat, und der Intrigant Don Basilio), ergänzt von einem gewitzten Kopf, der sich nicht nur mit Frisuren bestens auskennt, sondern auch in Liebesangelegenheiten als allererste Adresse gilt (Figaro). Seit der Uraufführung von 1816 hat Rossinis Komödie, die auf Beaumarchais’ gleichnamigem Theaterstück basiert, nichts von ihrer Frische eingebüsst. Unmöglich, sich der rhythmischen Sogkraft, den Crescendo-Spiralen, den irrwitzigen Ensembles oder Arien-Highlights wie Figaros Zungenbrecher Largo al factotum zu entziehen! Für unsere Wiederaufnahme kommt als Almaviva Maxim Mironov nach Zürich, der sich insbesondere als gefeierter Rossini-Tenor einen Namen gemacht hat. Seine Rosina ist die italienische Mezzosopranistin Serena Malfi. Als gewitzter Figaro spinnt der Bariton Andrzej Filonczyk die Intrigen, die zum Happy End führen. Die musikalische Leitung hat der feinfühlige Könner im italienischen Repertoire Enrique Mazzola.
