Great opera in the Schauspielhaus: Under the direction of Johannes Keller, I musici de La Cetra will interpret one of the first works in opera history. It tells of the hero Odysseus, who returns to his homeland after the Trojan War and years of wandering and, in the form of a beggar, recaptures his home. In the new Basel production, Odysseus remains a fantasy: in his place are Basel men with migration history (s) and connect Monteverdi's opera with the present.

The mezzo-soprano Katarina Bradić can be seen again as Penelope at the Theater Basel. With the tragicomic Iro, actor Martin Hug embodies one of the most unique roles in opera history.
