Leonora and Manrico, a couple who embody freedom and idealism, are doomed by jealousy and the threat of power. The Count of Luna, punitive and sadistic, has an obsessive weakness: Leonora; while the mysterious and enigmatic Azucena guards a secret that will destroy them all. With her machinations, she will turn Leonora into an immortal heroine condemned to sacrifice. The mechanisms of the drama and a psychological depth underlined by a radiant and expansive music that overflows with imagination make  Il trovatore  one of the peaks of the repertoire. Sincerity and purity are the features of Leonora, presented here by Saioa Hernández and Hibla Gerzmava.

Vittorio Grigolo, Juan Jesús Rodríguez and Ksenia Dudnikova complete this story of love and revenge in fifteenth-century Aragon, in which the characters are victims of the pathological visions of the gypsy.

The montage signed by Àlex Ollé for the Paris Opera, which is inspired by the First World War, portrays the consequences of a war between brothers where irrational actions leave no room for reflection. A grueling trench warfare where humans are abstract and spooky characters full of hatred.

A very important cast for this tragedy, premiered in Rome in 1853 (and in 1854 at the Lyceum), in which Verdi shows the weight of the past and the impossibility of overcoming it. In the age of anti-racial movements against the death of George Floyd, the exotic view of minorities from the perspective of the nineteenth century serves to denounce the substrates and stereotypes that have shaped our gaze. This is the true revenge of history: "Sei vendicata, o madre!"
