The Mozart orchestra is a young but unique reality in Europe. The choice of Abbado, who founded it in 2004, to leave full freedom of expression to each musician, trusting the exceptional nature of the result, has created a harmony that all the members of Mozart narrate, an almost familiar experience and a project strongly shared by artists who grew up together. «It's a fresh, young, happy and wonderful way of making music. Huge energy, combined with great skills, with that twinkle in everyone's eyes that makes it all very special. Every time we can't wait to play together again» says concertmaster Raphael Christ. «Mozart is unique because every musician shares the same happiness and desire to make music together, and there aren't many orchestras that can say the same» adds principal oboe Lucas Macías Navarro. Thanks to the great participation of her musicians, Mozart has always been characterized by a chamber soul, she performs in variable formations, facing a very vast repertoire, up to proposing chamber concerts in duo and trio. This is how the LAC audience got to know her, on the occasion of the now annual appointments for the LuganoMusica Season, with symphonic concerts and a chamber music festival organized by the musicians. Mozart has inaugurated the 2021 season and is expected every spring for the Easter concert. After the death of Claudio Abbado and the experience with the great Dutch conductor Bernard Haitink, since 2019 the Orchestra has been led by Daniele Gatti, one of the most appreciated Italian conductors at an international level. In his words: «This orchestra creates a privileged relationship, I would say unique, with its conductor. It is a great stimulus to know that a group of musicians of this level have the common denominator of the desire to dedicate themselves to this special project with me. I'm happy to be part of it."
