“Iolanta” is the last and one of the most life-affirming works by Tchaikovsky. It is based on the play of the Danish playwright G. Hertz “King René’s Daughter”. This is a poetic story of a blind girl, which the director reveals as full of not only romance, but also drama. A sudden outbreak of love for an unfamiliar knight ignites in her heart a passionate desire to see the world and gives birth to the courage to endure the torment, at the cost of which she will be able to see the light. But what will this insight bring to Iolanta?..

The role of Iolanta as a child is played by Evdokia Gureeva.

«Иоланта» – последнее и одно из самых жизнеутверждающих сочинений Чайковского. В ее основе – пьеса датского драматурга Г. Герца «Дочь короля Рене». Это поэтичная история слепой девушки, которую режиссер раскрывает как полную не только романтики, но и драматизма. Внезапно вспыхнувшая любовь к незнакомому рыцарю зажигает в ее сердце страстное желание увидеть мир и рождает мужество вынести муки, ценой которых она сможет прозреть. Но что принесет Иоланте это прозрение?..
