Universum Film AG - UFA for short - was a large German film company and one of the most important film production sites in the world. Founded in 1917, the company was merged into other film corporations after the collapse of fascist Germany. The name UFA conjures up memories and emotions to this day. She owes her worldwide success to a considerable extent to the numerous hits that outstanding entertainers such as Ralph Benatzky, Werner Richard Heymann, Friedrich Hollaender and Michael Jarry created for her. Many of these artists had to flee from the National Socialists because of their Jewish descent or political convictions. Their forced departure caused great cultural losses that can neither be replaced nor made up for.
