Un timbre luminoso. Un canto apasionado. Una voz homogénea, ardorosa y flexible. Una seductora presencia escénica. Las valoraciones de la crítica internacional son unánimes: el mexicano Javier Camarena es uno de los grandes tenores del momento, como certificaron bien los espectadores que en 2017 llenaron el Teatro de la Maestranza para gozar de su debut en el coliseo sevillano. Entonces, Javier Camarena, rey de la ópera belcantista especializado en Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti o Bellini, puso al público en pie cantando Sevilla de Agustín Lara, deslumbrándolo con su naturalidad y su sencillez. Sobre esa tarjeta de visita, uno de los tenores latinos del momento, habitual de las grandes casas internacionales de ópera, vuelve a Sevilla para refrendar, a los 46 años, su óptimo momento vocal, con un programa que girará entorno a la obra de Francesco Paolo Tosti, (1846 - 1916), un compositor -y tenor- italiano que triunfó en Gran Bretaña -fue maestro de canto de la reina Victoria I y de su sucesor, el rey Eduardo VII- que compuso más de 500 canciones para voz y piano con un éxito popular sencillamente arrollador. Grandes tenores como Caruso, Di Stefano, Pavarotti o Kraus las llevaron en su repertorio. Y Javier Camarena, enamorado de esas canciones, también lo hace.
