Festival tentokrát představí Její pastorkyni v podání poznaňského souboru z Teatr Wielki, který patří k předním polským operním souborům s více než stoletou historií. Přiváží slavnou inscenací původně vytvořenou pro bruselské La Monnaie lotyšským režisérem a dramatikem Alvisem Hermanisem, který dnes patří mezi vůdčí osobnosti evropské divadelní scény. Působivá inscenace je výtvarně inspirována a stylizována v 1. a 3. jednání do opulentních obrazů à la Alfons Mucha se sborem v bohatých krojích. O to větším kontrastem je zde 2. jednání přenesené do 60. let, do éry komunismu, kde stylizaci ve chvílích vrcholící tragédie vystřídá realistické herectví.

Její pastorkyňa patří k nejslavnějším Janáčkovým dílům. Na jejím počátku bylo realistické drama G. Preissové (1862–1946), které si skladatel sám upravil do podoby operního libreta. Přestože musel text dramatu výrazně zkrátit, podařilo se mu účinek tragického příběhu z moravského venkova ještě prohloubit. Marnotratný a nestálý Števa, prudký, a přece v jádru laskavý Laca, a především neúprosná Kostelnička, kterou snaha zachovat si postavení a respekt ve vesnické komunitě přivede k vraždě dítěte její schovanky Jenůfy. Janáček (1854–1928) zachytil jednotlivé charaktery v mistrné dramatické zkratce, z které až mrazí, a zároveň v nás vzbouzí soucit a pochopení. Práce na Její pastorkyni zabrala Janáčkovi bezmála devět let. První jednání opery dokončil roku 1897, druhé a třetí pak vznikalo za okolností pro Janáčkovu rodinu nanejvýš tragických. V roce 1902 skladatelova dcera Olga těžce onemocněla během návštěvy Janáčkova bratra v Petrohradu. Janáček dokončil druhé jednání opery po Olžině návratu a třetí těsně před její smrtí v únoru roku 1903. Její pastorkyni připsal památce své dcery. Premiéru opery chtěl Janáček svěřit pražskému Národnímu divadlu, byl však odmítnut s tím, že opera není vhodná k provozování na přední české scéně. První provedení se tedy konalo v Brně 21. 1. 1904 a sklidilo neobyčejný úspěch. Až v roce 1915 se podařilo přesvědčit vedení pražského divadla a dirigenta Karla Kovařovice, aby Její pastorkyni provedli. Po velmi úspěšné pražské premiéře 26. 5. 1916 se Janáček konečně prosadil jako skladatel nejen v českém, ale záhy i světovém měřítku.

This time, the festival will present Jejja pastorkyni performed by the Poznań troupe from the Teatr Wielki, which is one of the leading Polish opera troupes with more than a hundred years of history. He brings a famous production originally created for La Monnaie in Brussels by the Latvian director and playwright Alvis Hermanis, who today is one of the leading figures of the European theater scene. The impressive production is artistically inspired and stylized in Acts 1 and 3 into opulent paintings à la Alfons Mucha with a chorus in rich costumes. Her Shepherdess belongs to Janáček's most famous works. It began with a realistic drama by G. Preissová (1862–1946), which the composer himself adapted into an opera libretto.
