Jesus ein Superstar? Das klingt, als wäre Gottes Sohn zum Showgeschäft übergetreten! Judas befürchtet, dass Jesus die Kontrolle über seine begeisterte Fan-Gemeinde verliert und so sich selbst und seine Anhänger in Gefahr bringt. Um Jesus zu retten, vertraut er sich verhängnisvollerweise dem Hohepriester Kaiphas an. Und so kommt alles, wie es kommen muss.

Die letzten Tage der Passionsgeschichte werden in dem Musical also aus der Perspektive von Judas, Jesus’ Freund und Verräter erzählt: der Einzug in Jerusalem, die Vertreibung der Händler aus dem Tempel,  die Liebe Maria Magdalenas zu Jesus, die Auseinandersetzung zwischen Jesus und Judas und der Verrat, das letzte Abendmahl, das Urteil Herodes’, der Kreuzweg und Jesu Tod am Kreuz.

Jesus Christ Superstar ist eine Geschichte über Ruhm und den letzten Weg eines Idols, über Anbetung und Hass, Glaube und Zweifel, Freundschaft und Verrat, Verzweiflung und Hoffnung, die der Geburt einer Weltreligion - und warnt vor Glauben, der zum Fanatismus wird.

1971 feierte die Rockoper des damals noch vollkommen unbekannten Andrew Lloyd Webber Premiere und gehört seitdem zu den erfolgreichsten Bühnenstücken aller Zeiten. Der Stoff ist wie geschaffen für die Stiftsruine!

Ob Funny Girl 2019, Titanic 2017/18, Kiss me Kate 2014 oder Anatevka 2012 – Stefan Hubers bisherigen Arbeiten in der Stiftsruine überzeugten nicht nur, sie begeisterten Kritiker und Publikum immer wieder.

Es spielt das Orchester der Bad Hersfelder Festspiele unter der Leitung von Christoph Wohlleben.

Jesus a superstar? It sounds like God's son went into show business! Judas fears that Jesus is losing control of his adoring fan base, putting himself and his followers at risk. In order to save Jesus, he fatally entrusts himself to the high priest Caiaphas. And so everything comes as it must.

The last days of the Passion story are told in the musical from the perspective of Judas, Jesus' friend and betrayer: the entry into Jerusalem, the expulsion of the merchants from the temple, Mary Magdalene's love for Jesus, the dispute between Jesus and Judas and the betrayal, the last supper, Herod's judgement, the way of the cross and Jesus' death on the cross.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a story about glory and an idol's final journey, about worship and hate, faith and doubt, friendship and betrayal, despair and hope, the birth of a world religion - and warns against faith turning into fanaticism.

The rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who was still completely unknown at the time, premiered in 1971 and has been one of the most successful stage plays of all time ever since. The fabric is made for the monastery ruins!

Whether Funny Girl 2019, Titanic 2017/18, Kiss me Kate 2014 or Anatevka 2012 - Stefan Huber's previous works in the monastery ruins have not only been convincing, they have repeatedly inspired critics and the public.

The orchestra of the Bad Hersfeld Festival plays under the direction of Christoph Wohlleben.
