This performance of the St. John Passion has its own story: The JS Bach Foundation, founded in St. Gallen in 2006, has set itself the goal of performing the entire vocal works of Johann Sebastian Bach and documenting them on CDs within 25 years. A pool of historically and stylistically experienced musicians around the organist and conductor Rudolf Lutz is responsible for the challenging project, which has received worldwide attention.

Mit dieser Aufführung der Johannespassion hat es seine eigene Bewandtnis: Die 2006 in St. Gallen gegründete J. S. Bach-Stiftung hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, innerhalb von 25 Jahren das gesamte Vokalwerk Johann Sebastian Bachs aufzuführen und auf CDs zu dokumentieren.
