Welcome to the starting point of EDEN - a journey that I hope will inspire you, challenge you, instill you with hope, and invite you to connect more deeply to the perfect, natural world around and within you. 

We will pose questions, look for answers, invite you to take action, offer you moments to go inwards, and bring you along as we engage with young people across the globe both in nature and in song.

It’s ambitious, to be sure.

But isn’t now a wonderful moment to be ambitious?

Recorded with Il Pomo d’Oro and conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, the album samples repertoire from diverse inspirations and time periods, all of which explore an aspect of humankind’s eternal relationship with nature, and features the world premiere recording of a specially commissioned work by the Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman. In Joyce's words, the selections of the program "have no boundaries – like a wild garden."

Beyond the recording, the EDEN project encompasses a global tour of more than 45 venues across five continents, groundbreaking education programs, and multiple partnerships. This multi-faceted initiative is poised to make a long-term impact and legacy which asks each of us to consider this question: "In this time of upheaval, which seed will you plant today?"

Exploring the majesty, might, and mystery of Nature through both arresting and evocative music and theatrical effects, Joyce DiDonato takes us on an emotional journey to reconnect to the power and fragility of Nature, exploring our place within the kaleidoscopic, wondrous world around us. Joined by the original instrument ensemble il pomo d’oro and Maxim Emelyanychev, as well as the French stage director Marie Lambert, Joyce will perform a wide-ranging program cycling from Handel to Ives, Gluck to Mahler, inviting the audience to consider their own place in the world… and perhaps to even change it.
