The legendary rock opera was first staged in the early 1980s. The plot of the rock opera is based on real events of the early 19th century, and its name is based on the names of the sailing ships "Juno" and "Avos", on which the expedition of the diplomat and traveler Nikolai Rezanov sailed. His meeting with the daughter of the commandant of San Francisco became fatal: the 42-year-old leader of the first Russian round-the-world expedition Rezanov and 16-year-old Conchita Arguello fell in love ...
The poet Andrei Voznesensky raised this story to an extraordinary height, gave it a philosophical sound, and the composer Alexei Rybnikov made it truly timeless, telling about the search and throwing of heroes from the perspective of his generation. He merged the first Russian rock opera with the liturgy, it became a complex and organic combination of difficult to compare genres: from the traditions of Russian sacred music and folklore to romance, mass “urban” song and rock.
For director-director Nikolai Markelov, the main topic is the "unreached", seeking, misunderstood and broken best sons of the Fatherland, the same "disbanded generation" that "alone wanders towards the truth."
