The scenography of the performance is close to the production in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre. In this stage version, the production was presented in Perm in 2015.

One of the pillars of Russian opera classics, "Prince Igor" by Alexander Borodin, is based on a historical plot borrowed from the monument of ancient Russian literature "The Tale of Igor's Campaign", and tells of Igor Svyatoslavich's unsuccessful campaign against the Polovtsians.
Borodin's unfinished work was completed after the death of the author by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov. The premiere of the opera took place in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre. The artistic team of the Perm premiere in 2015 refers to this production. Director Sigrid T'Hooft is known primarily as an expert in the field of historical theatrical reconstruction, conductor Valery Platonov is a connoisseur of Russian musical heritage, and artist Stefan Dietrich is an excellent stylist who thoughtfully works with visual documents from different eras. They see their main task in that, without making direct repetitions, as close as possible to the aesthetics of the opera house of the late 19th century.
