Since its first performance in 1896, La Bohème has remained one of the world’s most popular, well-loved and frequently performed operas. The tragic story of the impoverished seamstress Mimi and the struggling poet Rodolfo’s doomed love affair as captured by Puccini’s poignant and evocative score, pulls at the heartstrings and stirs emotions. The glittering and lively café scene in Act II, which introduces the feisty and passionate Musetta, perfectly captures romantic Bohemian Paris in full festive flight. 

The opera features some of the most popular and famous arias ever composed. In film the opera has brought leading ladies to tears in movies such as Moonstruck and Pretty Woman. La Bohème justifiably deserves its popularity and with its moving storyline, endearing characters and heart-breakingly beautiful music, it can be seen and enjoyed over and over again.
