"Bohemia" is one of the most frequently conducted operas and one of my favorite works. I like it because it has a clear musical structure. It is very technically constructed and looks like a great symphony with voices. Each element is composed in a symphonic way, using the technique of leitmotifs. But when you listen to "Bohemia", you do not think about the technique, but you feel a great freedom and a special cheerfulness. That is why this opera will always sound modern. Every time I conduct it, it seems new to me and I am constantly rediscovering new layers in it.
