A mysterious presence hangs over a castle: that of the White Lady, ancestral protector of the estate ... Both a comic opera founder of the genre and a great romantic show, La Dame blanchede Boieldieu and his librettist Scribe oscillates between popular fresco and initiation novel. Inspired by Walter Scott, this 1825 piece is the most resounding success of the Opéra-Comique. It filled Rossini, Offenbach, Bizet and Wagner with enthusiasm. His tunes are remembered as real hits. Louise Vignaud transposes the fable into an animal world, a world of strange proportions where the marvelous takes precedence. Become birds, insects… the characters, transformed by the masks and the superb costumes, reveal their flaws. To the dialogues rewritten by Pauline Noblecourt is added the brilliance of the interpretation on period instruments by the Orchester Les Siècles.
