Aufgrund des Warnstreiks am 6. März und den damit verbundenen Unwägbarkeiten für den Proben- und Produktionsbetrieb muss die Premiere von Giuseppe Verdis »Die Macht des Schicksals« vom 8. März auf den 12. März um 18.00 Uhr verschoben werden.

Die Welt versinkt im Chaos und wird zur Bühne einer erbitterten Verfolgungsjagd: Leonora und ihr Geliebter Alvaro wollen ein neues Leben beginnen, doch ihre Flucht misslingt, als sich ein Schuss aus Alvaros Pistole löst und Leonoras Vater tötet. Ein kompromissloses Drama um Schuld und Vergeltung nimmt seinen Lauf, in dem sich die Liebenden aus den Augen verlieren und Leonoras Bruder Carlo sein Leben der Rache verschreibt. Schlaglichtartig und in teils heftigen Kontrasten wechseln sich in Verdis betörend-verstörender Musik Momente intimer Innerlichkeit mit großangelegten Chorszenen ab. Aufgepeitschte Massen stehen individuellen Schicksalen gegenüber. Die Frage, die dabei über allem steht: Worin liegt die titelgebende Macht des Schicksals? Bleibt ein Spielraum, Fluch und Zerstörung zu entkommen? Damit Sie trotz der Bauverzögerung der Spielstätte OPAL nicht auf Verdis fulminantes Musikdrama verzichten müssen, zeigen wir die Oper in konzertanter Fassung unter der Leitung von Jānis Liepiņš im Musensaal des Rosengartens.

Due to the warning strike on March 6th and the associated imponderables for rehearsals and production operations, the premiere of Giuseppe Verdi's "The Power of Destiny" has to be postponed from March 8th to March 12th at 6 p.m.

The world sinks into chaos and becomes the stage for a bitter chase: Leonora and her lover Alvaro want to start a new life, but their escape fails when a shot is fired from Alvaro's pistol and kills Leonora's father. An uncompromising drama about guilt and revenge takes its course, in which the lovers lose sight of each other and Leonora's brother Carlo dedicates his life to revenge. In Verdi's beguiling and disturbing music, moments of intimate introspection alternate with large-scale choral scenes in a way that is highlighted and sometimes in violent contrasts. Whipped up masses face individual fates. The question that stands above everything else: What is the eponymous power of fate? remains a leeway to escape curse and destruction? So that you don't have to do without Verdi's brilliant music drama despite the delay in construction of the OPAL venue, we are showing the opera in a concert version under the direction of Jānis Liepiņš in the Musensaal of the Rosengarten.
