»I am completely smitten by this wonderful, magnificent work and count it among the highest that has ever been created«, Gustav Mahler said in 1886 to the archaeologist Friedrich Löhr. After its premiere in 1835, Halévy's grand opéra quickly and permanently conquered the European opera stages, was banned under National Socialism and ignored after the Second World War. The State Opera production of La Juive marks a milestone in performance history, as the premiere in 1999 led to the rediscovery of this opera for the international repertoire.

Die Staatsopernproduktion von La Juive markiert einen Meilenstein in der Aufführungsgeschichte, denn die Uraufführung im Jahr 1999 führte zur Wiederentdeckung dieser Oper für das internationale Repertoire.
