La Sonnambula: La sonnambula Bellini

This is the NNTT premiere of La Sonnambula by renowned bel canto opera composer Bellini. With a story revolving around a wedding in a mountain village in the Swiss Alps, this work features stunningly romantic and lyrical music, with numerous beautiful arias including "Vi ravviso, o luoghi ameni", "Ah! Perché non posso odiarti", and the climax, "Ah, non credea mirarti". This work is also striking for the use of the mountain villagers' chorus throughout, as well as scenes depicted with alternating aria and chorus.

A co-production with the Teatro Real, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Teatro Massimo, this production was first staged in December 2022 in Madrid. Bárbara Lluch's production has drawn attention for her distinctively sensitive way of highlighting women's feelings in a closed-off mountain village.

It will be conducted by Maurizio Benini, a renowned master of Italian opera, who also conducted the first performance of this production in Madrid. The cast brings together top bel canto artists, with Rosa Feola, a new star of bel canto who has appeared with eminent theatres, in the role of Amina and the highly renowned Antonino Siragusa in the role of Elvino.
