Completed in 1831, Bellini’s La Sonnambula (The Sleepwalker) is a landmark work in the belcanto repertoire. A lovely sleepwalker Amina is about to be married to Elvino, a rich landowner, but Elvino becomes jealous and discards Amina when she sleepwalks into the room of Conte Rodolfo. However, Elvino is greatly moved when he hears the sleepwalking Amina tenderly sing of her love for him - and the wedding is on again. Marvelously staged by the famous Argentine stage director, Hugo de Ana, the production features singers renowned for exquisite belcanto performances. Lyric soprano Rosa Feola honours ROHM with her debut as Amina. Elvino is sung by award-winning tenor Antonino Siragusa and Nicola Ulivieri, noted for his beautiful bass voice, sings Conte Rodolfo. The orchestra of Fondazione Arena di Verona is conducted by Antonello Allemandi.
