Although Giuseppe Verdi (1813–1901) was under severe time constraints when he composed La Traviata, he managed to create one of his most enduring works. Verdi and Piave saw in Dumas's play The Lady with the Camellias a timeless theme, attractive even for operatic setting. The love story, which revolves around the division between what is socially acceptable and the dictates of the heart, and actualizes the impotence of overcoming social differences, has found a perfect companion for the future in Verdi's characteristic musical language. The music, which echoes the light pulse of salons and ballrooms and which convincingly portrays a person's inner struggles, permeates both her intimate story and the milieu in which it takes place in the drama about an unhappy young Parisian courtesan. Therefore, it is not surprising that La Traviata is thankfully open to a variety of directorial interpretations, The directorial composition was signed by the famous director of Argentine descent, Hugo de Ana. A director who established himself on the world's most important opera stages (he was a guest at the Rome Opera, the San Carlo Theater in Naples, the German Opera Berlin, the Royal Covent Garden Opera in London, the Opera in Lille, the Royal Theater in Madrid, the Washington Opera, Milan's Scala et al.), crowned his work with regular participation in one of the world's most prestigious opera festivals, the Verona Arena festival, for which he directed the operas Tosca (in 2006) and The Barber of Seville (2007). The young nobleman Alfredo falls in love with the Parisian courtesan Violetta. The couple decides to live as a couple, bypassing Parisian salons and prejudices. However, the escape from the world is only apparent and short-lived. In their idyllic hideaway in the suburbs of Paris, Violetta is visited by Alfredo's father, who asks her to leave his son to save him from disgrace and allow him to regain his reputation. Violetta realizes that she cannot escape the unfortunate fate of a woman living in the shadow of Parisian high society, and therefore decides to leave Alfredo. However, the decision to fix his situation casts a fatal shadow over her young life...
