The recording matches favorite tenor showpieces with rarer gems by Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti, Meyerbeer, Gounod, and Benjamin Godard. It was in Bordeaux in 2019, and in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, that Pene Pati – who grew up in New Zealand – made his European debut. A singer of glowing lyricism, he establishes an immediate rapport with his audience and has risen swiftly up the world’s tenor ranks.

At the heart of Donizetti's immense production (over 70 operas!) Are many pearls. Among them, this Elisir d'amore created in Milan in 1832, which was an immediate success. The reason for the triumph? A luminous score with rare melodic inspiration, a famous aria offered to the hero Nemorino - “Una furtiva lagrima” - which was to become a staple in tenor recitals, and an elixir revealed
to be nothing less than ... Bordeaux wine! A double cast will give life to the score with, in the role of the young peasant in love, Kévin Amiel (having recently shone in Bordeaux in La Traviata ) and Yu Chao, winner of the Bordeaux Médoc lyrique Competition, who will compete in sweet feelings in front of the beautiful farmer. Adina alternately camped by Golda Schultz and Catherine Trottmann. All under the musical and scenic direction of an Italian duo passionate about this repertoire: the young conductor Nil Venditti and the director-choreographer Adriano Sinivia.
