Three love stories by the poet Hoffmann that invite you to a fantasy world
A fantastic love story directed by the "magician of light" Philippe Arlaud. "The Tales of Hoffmann" is the only opera of Offenbach, the late-century Parisian operetta king who produced "Heaven and Hell". It is a gem of a masterpiece in which the "duality of reality and fantasy" that was once in the work is perfectly integrated with the story of the opera. The three women surrounding Hoffmann, the demonic existence that leads the love story to ruin, and the art goddess Muse. A series of enigmatic and dreamy tales unfolds one after another to Offenbach's melodic music, including the famous ``Hoffmann's Barker Song'', Hoffmann's ``Kleinsack Song'', and the highlight of the coloratura soprano, Olympia's aria ``Hedgehog''. There are plenty of things to listen to, such as ni birds.

In this work, which was Arlaud's first production at the New National Theater, the costumes full of wit and humor, and the effective arrangement of fluorescent colors in the black stage space, brought out the fantasy of the original work, further enhancing the work. It brings depth.
Conducted by Marco Letagna, General Music Director of the Bremen Philharmonic. Hoffmann will be played by Leonardo Capalvo, who is known as the "new-generation tenor prince" and is a highly successful Hoffmann singer, and the world's leading bass-baritone Egils Sirins will play the four villains.

"光の魔術師"フィリップ・アルローの演出による幻想的恋物語。『ホフマン物語』は『天国と地獄』などを生んだ世紀末パリのオペレッタ王オッフェンバック唯一のオペラ作品で、ドイツ・ロマン主義の作家Ｅ.Ｔ.Ａ.ホフマンによる3つの物語をモチーフとし、ホフマンが用いた"現実と幻想の二重性"がそのままオペラの物語と渾然一体となった、珠玉の傑作です。ホフマンをめぐる３人の女性、恋物語を破滅に導く悪魔的な存在、芸術の女神ミューズ。謎めいた夢幻の物語が、オッフェンバックのメロディックな音楽で次々に展開し、有名な「ホフマンの舟歌」、ホフマンの歌う「クラインザックの歌」、コロラトゥーラ・ソプラノの見せ場であるオランピアのアリア「生け垣に鳥たちが」など、聴きどころも満載です。
アルローにとって新国立劇場での演出第一作となった本作品では、ウィットとユーモアいっぱいの衣裳や、黒い舞台空間に蛍光色を効果的に配して原作の幻想性を醸し出し、作品に一層の深みをもたらしています。
指揮はブレーメン・フィル音楽総監督のマルコ・レトーニャ。ホフマンには"新世代のテノールの王子"と称されホフマン歌いとして大成功を重ねるレオナルド・カパルボ、悪役４役には世界屈指のバス・バリトンのエギルス・シリンスが登場します。
