PRESENTATION OF THE OPERA 2022 #shorts

"Take the most horrid, most repulsive, most complete moral deformity, place it where it stands out best, in a woman's heart [...], then mix all this moral discrepancy with a pure sentiment, the purest that a woman can feel, the sentiment maternal ". These are the words that Victor Hugo uses to describe the tragedy Lucrezia Borgia , written by him and from which Donizetti drew his work in a prologue and two acts, staged for the first time in 1833. Lucrezia, protagonist of this drama seeks redemption in the purity of love for her child, but the events that she herself sets in motion will give her love the flavor of poison, of death.
