This delightful opera by Prokofiev has a comic plot and complex origin: a 17th century tale written by Giambattista Basile, adapted for theater by Carlo Gozzi in the following century, translated by Meyerhold into Russian and adapted into French libretto by the composer himself. and by Vera Janacópulos, a Brazilian soprano of first importance at the time for promoting names such as Villa Lobos in Europe. The plot, which flirts with fantastic surrealism, narrates the saga of a king to cure his son's melancholy. To this end, the king summons a series of entertainments, characters from the Commedia dell'Arte, wizards, witches and a radiant musicality between Russian music and romantic tradition (how can we not remember the famous march?). These elements make this opera a unique event. Also unique for the unprecedented collaboration with the actor and scenic director invited to lead this production: Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos. A notable figure on Brazilian stages and screens, Luiz Carlos has in his origins the circus, masks and magic, being the creator of the Piolim theater circus. Expressions necessary for our “three oranges” to enchant everyone and cure any and all melancholy once and for all!

Esta deliciosa ópera de Prokofiev tem uma trama cômica e de origem complexa: um conto do século 17 escrito por Giambattista Basile, adaptado para teatro por Carlo Gozzi no século seguinte, traduzido por Meyerhold para o russo e adaptado para o libreto em francês pelo próprio compositor e por Vera Janacópulos, soprano brasileira de primeira importância em sua época por divulgar na Europa nomes com Villa Lobos. O enredo, que flerta com o surrealismo fantástico, narra a saga de um rei para curar a melancolia de seu filho. Para tal fim, o rei convoca uma série de entretenimentos, personagens oriundos da Commedia dell’Arte, magos, bruxas e uma musicalidade radiante entre a música russa e a tradição romântica (como não lembrar da célebre marcha?). Esses elementos fazem desta ópera um evento único. Único também pela inédita colaboração com o ator e diretor cênico convidado para estar à frente desta produção: Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos. Figura notável nos palcos e telas do Brasil, Luiz Carlos tem em suas origens o circo, as máscaras e a magia, sendo o criador do circo teatro Piolim.
