Verdi created an image of an eccentric couple in his Macbeth : Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are two poor dehumanized beings whose relationship oscillates between a caricature of marriage and a relentless power struggle. However, both are also cruel conspirators who long for power, obsessed with the burning need to fill their human emptiness with something. The composer was inspired by Shakespeare's immortal tragedy, translating the language of Elizabethan theater into the language of a romantic opera drama with all the attributes that operatic practice required in the 19th century. However, Verdi would not have been Verdi if he had not bypassed the clichés and made his personal contribution and did not accentuate his own views on the ruler Macbeth, the cruel Lady, the witches, but also the Birnam Forest, which moves when the cup of patience overflows.
