Den 18 oktober släpps magin lös på GöteborgsOperans Stora scen. Då landar säsongens stora musikal, i form av den flygande barnsköterskan Mary Poppins. Regissör Stina Ancker med team utlovar en svindlande föreställning med många överraskningar.

GöteborgsOperan först med egen version
Musikalen om denna världens första "supernanny" hade urpremiär i London 2004 och spelades därefter på Broadway i New York.

GöteborgsOperan är den första teatern i världen som fått göra en egen version av musikalen och översatt den till svenska. Föreställningen vänder sig till alla åldrar och är en riktig frossa i härliga sång, dans- och steppnummer. Musikalen är baserad på P.L. Travers barnboksserie om Mary Poppins (första boken utkom 1934) och på Walt Disneys film från 1964.

Stor ensemble och nya stjärnor
I GöteborgsOperans uppsättning av Mary Poppins består ensemblen av inte mindre än 46 artister. Sex av dessa är barn som alternerar i rollerna som Jane och Michael Banks. Som Mary Poppins får vi se Linda Olsson i sin första riktigt stora roll, som Bert ser vi den rutinerade Magnus Borén och som Herr och Fru Banks ser vi Sven Angleflod och Nina Norblad. I andra roller finner vi bland annat Monica Einarson, My Holmsten och David Lundqvist. GöteborgsOperans Stora scen och scenteknik utnyttjas maximalt i föreställningen där fantasin står i centrum. Det blir, med Mary Poppins egna ord, superkaffiryteflanisötomaxigrafiskt.

Rutinerat produktionsteam
För det musikaliska arrangemanget svarar Björn Dobbelaere, som tidigare haft framgångar med Cats och Miss Saigon på GöteborgsOperan. Regissören Stina Ancker var senast här med Mozartoperan Enleveringen ur seraljen, i vilken hon samarbetade med samma översättare och kostymdesigner som nu: Magnus Lindman respektive Kajsa Larsson. Scenograf är Peter Lundquist, , koreograf Mattias Carlsson, ljusdesigner Mats Öhlin och ljuddesigner Lars Wern.

On October 18, the magic will be unleashed on Gothenburg Opera's Stora scen. Then the big musical of the season lands, in the form of the flying nurse Mary Poppins. Director Stina Ancker and team promise a dizzying performance with many surprises.

Gothenburg Opera first with its own version
The musical about this world's first "supernanny" premiered in London in 2004 and was subsequently performed on Broadway in New York.

The Gothenburg Opera is the first theater in the world to make its own version of the musical and translate it into Swedish. The performance is aimed at all ages and is a real thrill in lovely singing, dancing and tap numbers. The musical is based on PL Travers' children's book series about Mary Poppins (the first book was published in 1934) and on Walt Disney's film from 1964.

Large ensemble and new stars
In Gothenburg Opera's production of Mary Poppins, the ensemble consists of no less than 46 artists. Six of these are children who alternate in the roles of Jane and Michael Banks. As Mary Poppins we get to see Linda Olsson in her first really big role, as Bert we see the seasoned Magnus Borén and as Mr and Mrs Banks we see Sven Angleflod and Nina Norblad. In other roles we find, among others, Monica Einarson, My Holmsten and David Lundqvist. Gothenburg Opera's large stage and stage technology are utilized to the maximum in the performance where imagination is at the center. It will be, in Mary Poppin's own words, super kaffir face flanise tomaxigraphic.

Seasoned production team
Björn Dobbelaere, who previously had success with Cats and Miss Saigon at the Gothenburg Opera, is responsible for the musical arrangement. Director Stina Ancker was last here with the Mozart opera Enleveringen from the seraglio, in which she collaborated with the same translators and costume designers as now: Magnus Lindman and Kajsa Larsson respectively. Set designer is Peter Lundquist, , choreographer Mattias Carlsson, lighting designer Mats Öhlin and sound designer Lars Wern.
