An international dance evening, inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's Matthew Passion BWV 244 - rethought, rehearsed, re-staged for today's people.

Johann Sebastian Bach's St Matthew Passion is the most important musical setting of the biblical Passion of Christ in western music and cultural history. It is a cultural treasure with a dimension that unites peoples. "Inspired" by this work, filled with spirit, an exciting evening of 75 minutes develops. The title "Matthäus-Passion-2727" is inspired by the questions of what will have happened to this work 1000 years after its premiere in 1727 and what will happen on the way there. Not worldviews, not tenets are translated dancing on stage through Bach's music. Rather, universal human experiences come into play and are heard: suffering and envy, grief and betrayal. These emotions take shape, appear in the voices and forms of familiar people, in the danced arias of Judas and Peter, Pilate and Jesus, and in the voices of the people. Starting with the final chorus of the St. Matthew Passion "We sit down with tears", a kaleidoscope of Passion scenes unfolds in front of the listener's ear, which he relates to his experiences and reconnects. The music jumps from station to station, breaking up and enlivening the listener's previous experience through a newly conceived sequence. Chorale moments offer dramaturgical points of rest, they structure the evening through lively meditation.
