On August 10, 1788, after several weeks of relentless meditation, Mozart completed what would be his final symphony in Vienna. The 41st which remains a masterpiece of balance and elegance . Vienne encore is the setting for the opera in three acts composed by Richard Strauss, to a libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal — Der Rosenkavalier (The Rosenkavalier) . Inspired by the Loves of the Knight of Faublas by Jean-Baptiste Louvet "de Couvray" and reviving the spirit of the 18th century, the score was premiered in Dresden in 1911.
