Federico Fellini’s Oscar-winning masterpiece 8 and ½ is the director’s first confession in film history, a genius and innovative work that has made a big impact on other artists as well. As it used to be, over time, the work reached the musical stages, with the musical Nine produced by Mario Fratti in the early 1980s, with a libretto by Arthur Kopit and music and lyrics by Maury Yeston. The play was performed on smaller rural stages for half a year after its completion, until it finally arrived on Broadway in New York on May 9, 1982, where it was a huge success not only among spectators but also among critics: Nine 12 Tony- he was awarded prizes for best musical, best original music and textbook, and best costume design.
