What if animals made deadly bombs, like us?
What if animals calculated, like us, the profit from such a war, from such a burning hatred, from such a sale of arms?
What if animals clashed, like us, in mass battles without end and without reason, until the death and desolation of the earth and its inhabitants?
Wouldn't we tell them, as the Italian poet Gianni Rodari said - as parents tell their children: there are things that we should NOT do... for example: war!
The ‘Prelude to Pro Memoria’ that you are about to hear is a short orchestral overture prelude to the ‘Pro Memoria’ project: a much longer symphonic work, which I composed to celebrate the triumph of Peace and its benevolent artisans.
During the eight minutes of the movement, two forces will confront each other, throughout a series of short and contrasting sound scenes: on one side: joy, hope - deemed naive - and the serenity of the sealers of reconciliation and deal-makers, and on the other side: the sly, swelling and rumbling noise of the forces of war, cunning and violence.
Faced with the infernal spiral of weapons and hatred, music opposes the proud and definitive march which leads to this simple happiness - finally rediscovered: an earth and a humanity peaceful, joyful and confident in its future once again wide open before it. .
This prelude is also intended to open the narration of a new story: a musical animal tale - for young and old -, inspired by 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell...
So I composed this sound painting based on a new text, a text written by a... Painter! He is among us this evening, and reproductions of his works linked to the 'Pro Memoria' project hang - for one evening - from the generous picture rails of the Talk CEC...
