The operetta gala at the start of the season offers popular, well-known and completely new things."Friends, life is worth living!" - What better way to start a season than with this statement? And what better way to start an engagement than with this song? – Alex Kim is new to the ensemble and presents himself to the Meiningen audience for the first time in tenor splendor with this hit from Lehàr's operetta GIUDITTA. The singer, who first studied in his native South Korea and then in Hamburg, was a member of the ensemble at the Nuremberg State Theater in 2017/18. The young tenor returned with awards from numerous competitions, such as the singing competition "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", where he was among the prizewinners in 2016 and now in 2018 won the 1st prize in the German subject and the prize for the best Wagner interpretation. In Meiningen he can still be seen as Ruggiero in Puccini's LA RONDINE in the autumn.

On this evening there are more hits and lively melodies on the program with works by Carl Millöcker, Robert Stolz and Emerich Kálmán! Audience favorites like Carolina Krogius, Monika Reinhard, Shin Taniguchi and Stan Meus have a whole menagerie of catchy tunes ready. Which line will you never get out of your head at the end? Maybe one from Paul Abraham's recently rediscovered operetta MÄRCHEN IM GRAND HOTEL, which will also be on the Meininger Theater's program from January!
