The concert of the Orchester national d'Île-de-France conducted by the artistic director of the ensemble, Case Scaglione, will be an opportunity to listen to three orchestral works by French composers - Maurice Ravel, Olivier Messiaen and Claude Debussy - and the Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius, in which the solo part will be performed by the Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma, born in 1985.

The first item in the concert program is La valse by Maurice Ravel, a composition from 1920, commissioned by Sergei Diaghilev, the famous impresario of the Russian Ballets. He planned to stage the work, but when he heard it in a piano arrangement, he said that it was not a ballet, but an image of a ballet. Offended, Ravel ended the acquaintance. What has resulted, however, is an undisputed masterpiece, in which commentators often see the characteristics of a danse macabre , a ghostly and fatalistic depiction of the end of an era. The composer himself renounced this type of interpretation, but the ominous nature of the music was stronger than his desire to see in La valsepurely abstract work. It begins with murmurs in the low register of the orchestra and mysterious flashes. The dance gradually swells until it finally turns into a ghostly pandemonium. This will be followed by Violin Concerto in D minor by Jean Sibelius. It is a work in which adversities clash - on the one hand, flowing, melodious melodies indicating inspiration with the work of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and on the other hand, cold, raw lyricism, which at one point was dominant in the Finn's work. Although the Violin Concerto is extremely poetic and lyrical, it also contains sections that are a great challenge for the performer of the solo part.

The second part of the concert will open with the orchestral meditation Les Offrandes oubliées by Olivier Messiaen, an early work by this artist. It consists of three sections. The first is a lamentation called The Cross , the second is Sin , which the composer called "running towards the abyss". The whole thing is crowned with a meditative, luminous Eucharist . At the end, the artists will play The Sea by Claude Debussy. It is built of three extremely picturesque links, to which the composer gave titles suggesting the moods that the music is supposed to evoke. The first is From Dawn Till Noon at Sea - a majestic image of a sunrise, the second is a graceful, arabesque Play of Waves,and the third – the dynamic and extremely dramatic Conversation of Wind and Sea. The absolute mastery of orchestration, the colorfulness of this music and its captivating suggestiveness make The Sea one of Debussy's most frequently performed compositions.

Koncert Orchestre national d’Île-de-France pod batutą szefa artystycznego zespołu, Case’a Scaglione, będzie okazją do wysłuchania trzech dzieł orkiestrowych kompozytorów francuskich – Maurice’a Ravela, Oliviera Messiaena i Claude’a Debussy’ego – oraz Koncertu skrzypcowego Jeana Sibeliusa, w którym partię solową wykona urodzona w 1985 roku holenderska skrzypaczka Simone Lamsma.

Pierwsza pozycja w programie koncertu to La valse Maurice’a Ravela, kompozycja z 1920 roku, napisana na zamówienie Siergieja Diagilewa, sławnego impresaria zespołu Balety Rosyjskie. Planował on wystawić dzieło w formie scenicznej, kiedy jednak usłyszał je w opracowaniu fortepianowym, stwierdził, że nie jest to balet, a obraz baletu. Urażony Ravel zakończył znajomość. Powstało jednak niekwestionowane arcydzieło, w którym komentatorzy często dopatrują się cech danse macabre, upiornego i fatalistycznego przedstawienia końca pewnej epoki. Sam kompozytor odżegnywał się od tego typu interpretacji, jednak złowieszczy charakter muzyki był silniejszy niż jego chęć widzenia w La valse utworu czysto abstrakcyjnego. Rozpoczyna się on od pomruków w niskim rejestrze orkiestry i tajemniczych rozbłysków. Taniec stopniowo nabrzmiewa, aż w końcu przekształca się w upiorne pandemonium. Następnie zabrzmi Koncert skrzypcowy d-moll Jeana Sibeliusa. To dzieło, w którym ścierają się przeciwności – z jednej strony rozlewne, śpiewne melodie wskazujące na inspirację twórczością Piotra Czajkowskiego, a z drugiej chłodny, surowy liryzm, będący w pewnym momencie dominantą w twórczości Fina. Chociaż Koncert skrzypcowy jest niezwykle poetycki i liryczny, to zawiera także odcinki stanowiące wielkie wyzwanie dla wykonawcy partii solowej.

Drugą część koncertu otworzy orkiestrowa medytacja Les Offrandes oubliées Oliviera Messiaena, wczesne dzieło tego twórcy. Składa się ono z trzech sekcji. Pierwsza z nich to lamentacja zatytułowana Krzyż, druga to Grzech, który kompozytor nazwał „biegiem ku otchłani”. Całość wieńczy zaś medytacyjna, świetlista Eucharystia. Na koniec artyści zagrają Morze Claude’a Debussy’ego. Zbudowane jest ono z trzech niezwykle malowniczych ogniw, którym kompozytor nadał tytuły sugerujące nastroje, jakie wywoływać ma muzyka. Pierwsze z nich to Od świtu do południa na morzu – pełen majestatu obraz wschodu słońca, drugie to wdzięczna, arabeskowa Gra fal, a trzecie – dynamiczna i niezwykle dramatyczna Rozmowa wiatru i morza. Absolutne mistrzostwo orkiestracji, barwność tej muzyki i jej zniewalająca sugestywność sprawiają, że Morze jest jedną z najchętniej wykonywanych kompozycji Debussy’ego.
