Ballet chatoyant des corps et des coeurs amoureux portés par la beauté de la musique, l’Orfeo d’Antonio Sartorio fait alterner atmosphères sensuelles, pathétiques, comiques et tragiques. Prenant le contrepied de Monteverdi, le compositeur nous y présente un Orphée possessif et méfiant, qui doute de l’amour d’une Eurydice luttant pour garder son amour et sa vie. C’est elle-même qui revient en fantôme pour demander à Orphée de la délivrer des Enfers. Quinze ans après Il sant’Alessio de Stefano Landi, cette fascinante production célèbre les retrouvailles du metteur en scène Benjamin Lazar et de Philippe Jaroussky. À leur suite, ils entraînent le spectateur dans le jardin de la folie d’Orphée, ces espaces intermédiaires entre vie et mort, passé et présent où Orphée et Eurydice ne cessent de se chercher et se perdre éternellement.

A shimmering ballet of loving bodies and hearts carried by the beauty of the music, Antonio Sartorio's Orfeo alternates sensual, pathetic, comic and tragic atmospheres. Taking the opposite view of Monteverdi, the composer presents us with a possessive and suspicious Orpheus, who doubts the love of Eurydice struggling to keep her love and her life. It is she herself who returns as a ghost to ask Orpheus to deliver her from the Underworld. Fifteen years after Il sant'Alessioby Stefano Landi, this fascinating production celebrates the reunion of director Benjamin Lazar and Philippe Jaroussky. Following them, they lead the viewer into the garden of madness of Orpheus, these intermediate spaces between life and death, past and present where Orpheus and Eurydice constantly seek and lose each other eternally.
