Vincent Dumestre and his ensemble Le Poème Harmonique invite us to 16th century Naples, recreating the vibrancy of the processions for the feast of the Virgin Mary. The theatrical and touching Stabat Mater, completed a mere few months before the composer’s death, is associated to pieces of oral tradition according to historical customs, and the concerto of another Neapolitan, Francesco Durante.

Vincent Dumestre et son ensemble Le Poème Harmonique nous entraînent dans la Naples du XVIIIe siècle. Ils recréent l’effervescence des processions pour la fête de la Vierge en associant au théâtral et touchant Stabat Mater de Pergolèse, achevé quelques mois avant la mort du compositeur, des traditions orales selon les coutumes de l’époque et le concerto d’un autre Napolitain, Francesco Durante.
