Dmitri Shostakovich is undoubtedly one of the pillars of 20th-century music history. We will be able to hear in this concert two fundamental works for the repertoire of any chamber orchestra: the Piano Concerto No. 1, still marked by a certain optimism characteristic of youth, and Symphony No. 14, characterized by pessimism and the sarcasm of Shostakovich’s late maturity.
