Mathieu Romano et l’ensemble Aedes s’associent aux musiciens des Siècles pour l’interprétation d’un monument de la musique sacrée, le Stabat Mater de Francis Poulenc.
Mathieu Romano s’empare de cette grande fresque musicale pour chœur, soprano solo et orchestre en dépassant la vision de la Vierge éplorée pour s’attacher au message d’espérance qui sous-tend l’œuvre. La première partie du programme dessine un chemin de foi : l’espoir (Janequin), la désolation (Gesualdo), la confirmation (Pärt), la question sans réponse (Ives), la ferveur (Messiaen) ; elle donne la parole à Marie, qui pleure la mort du Fils mais toujours espère en l’avenir. Ainsi l’auditeur entre dans la musique de ce Stabat Mater à la façon de « la Mère » endeuillée qui réaffirme sa foi et montre par quelle voie mystique Dieu se révèle aux hommes.

Mathieu Romano and the Aedes ensemble join forces with the musicians of the Siècles for the interpretation of a monument of sacred music, the Stabat Mater by Francis Poulenc.
Mathieu Romano takes hold of this great musical fresco for choir, solo soprano and orchestra by going beyond the vision of the weeping Virgin to focus on the message of hope that underlies the work. The first part of the program draws a path of faith: hope (Janequin), desolation (Gesualdo), confirmation (Pärt), the unanswered question (Ives), fervor (Messiaen); she gives the floor to Mary, who mourns the death of the Son but always hopes for the future. Thus the listener enters the music of this Stabat Mater like the bereaved “Mother” who reaffirms her faith and shows by what mystical way God reveals himself to men.
