Ramón Vargas

Born in Mexico, tenor Ramón Vargas is a laureate of the Enrico Caruso Competition in Italy. Trained in particular at the Vienna Staatsoper's opera studio, the public discovered him in 1992 when the Metropolitan Opera of New York asked him to replace Luciano Pavarotti in the role of Edgardo, in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor . Very quickly, Ramón Vargas' career took off internationally and he performed, in particular, at the Vienna Staatsoper ( The Magic Flute, Maria Stuarda, Falstaff ), at the Rome Opera ( The Barber of Seville ), at the Zurich Opera ( Fra Diavolo ), at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna ( Mosé in Egitto ). He has performed Rodolfo in La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, in Rome and at the Liceu in Barcelona, ​​Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra at the Metropolitan Opera, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto , Nemorino in L'Elixir d'amore in Vienna, the title role in Werther in San Francisco, Rodolfo in Luisa Miller at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Nemorino and Faust at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Jacopo Foscari in I Due Foscari at the Théâtre des Champs Élysées… He has also recorded numerous CDs and DVDs.
