Pour son retour sur la scène de l’Opéra de Lyon, qui vit ses débuts comme membre de la Troupe, le chanteur Stéphane Degout imagine un voyage mettant en regard mélodies et lieder de Gabriel Fauré et Johannes Brahms. À ces pièces composées dans les années soixante-dix et quatre-vingt du XIXème siècle répond un magnifique cycle de lieder de Robert Schumann, sur des poèmes de Justinus Kerner. Les douze lieder de l’opus 35 sont conçus en 1840, fameuse année des lieder, au cours de laquelle Schumann, triomphant des résistances de son père, épouse enfin Clara Wieck et laisse éclater sa joie en concevant une grande partie de son œuvre vocale.

For his return to the stage of the Opéra de Lyon, which saw his debut as a member of the Troupe, the singer Stéphane Degout imagines a journey bringing together melodies and lieder by Gabriel Fauré and Johannes Brahms. These pieces, composed in the seventies and eighties of the 19th century, are matched by a magnificent cycle of lieder by Robert Schumann, on poems by Justinus Kerner. The twelve lieder of opus 35 were conceived in 1840, the famous year of the lieder, during which Schumann, triumphing over the resistance of his father, finally married Clara Wieck and let his joy burst forth by conceiving a large part of his vocal work.
