A timely Danish requiem
In 2013, the DR Symphony Orchestra and the DR Concert Choir, together with five soloists, premiered the Danish composer John Frandsen  's Requiem . The concert was a great success. The professional reviewers praised the work to the skies:

And after the concert, a member of the audience wrote to the composer:
"Your work touched on aspects of this type of music that I have not experienced before, while at the same time confirming the tradition on which it was based and placed itself. The combination of the very different expressions in the work's individual components and the contexts that you clearly sensed and experienced made it a very integrated experience. I was greatly moved in various ways during the almost two hours of intense experience, from anguish and resentment to melancholy and emotion, and tears welled up on more than one occasion.”
