Requiem for the Fallen by Dubois, E., De la (2020/2020), Dirijor Michael Wittenburg, Michael Kotelnikov, Mosfilm Studio, Moscow, Russia

REQUIEM FOR THE FALLEN РЕКВИЕМ ПО ПАВШИМ Virtual concert in memory of the fallen in wars dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the WWII victory. “This requiem premieres in Russia appropriately at the end of a year of remembrance of those who tragically lost their lives during World War II,” says John J. Sullivan, U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation. “As we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II during 2020, we recognize and honor the shared sacrifice, enduring commitment, and unflinching bravery of the Allied forces and the civilian sacrifices in defeating the Axis powers. The people of many countries made great sacrifices and endured enormous suffering and loss of life.” The oratorio by American-Belgian composer Emmanuel M. Dubois debuted in France in 2018 before being premiered by Lyrica Classic in the USA in 2019 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The Russian premiere will be performed by the Symphony Orchestra Voce Anima and a Russian spiritual choir Vera, and and soprano Yulia Petrachuk, under the direction of conductors Michael Wittenburg from New York, Mikhail Kotelnikov in Moscow, and composer Emmanuel Dubois from Washington using virtual video communication platforms. The Requiem is a reflection on the loss of life due to the violence of wars. The lyrics set to the music are excerpts of poems by Emily Dickinson, Laurence Binyon, Rudyard Kipling, and John McCrae. The oratorio is part of the international musical project "Spread New Music to the World", that includes a series of webinars with the oratorio composer Emmanuel Dubois, and as well with established musicians from the USA, Russia and Europe.
