Rovereto, the Haydn Foundation Christmas Concert is at the Zandonai Theater, the oldest in Trentino
It is dedicated to Viennese classicism the Christmas Concert 2022 ofHaydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, which this year will take place on 13 December (20.45) in the evocative setting of the Zandonai Theatre of Rovereto, the first theater in Trentino, inaugurated in 1784 and reopened to the public in 2014, after twelve years of restoration. L'Haydn Orchestra, directed by Giordano Bellincampi and flanked by the soprano lead voice Gina Gloria Tronel, will perform festive pages of Haydn, Mozart is Beethoven. The concert opens with the radiant Symphony no. 30 in C major of Franz Joseph Haydn, composed in 1765 and also known as 'Hallelujah for the theme of the initial Allegro, based on the Gregorian chant of the same name. In the central part of the evening, one of the most famous sacred compositions by will be heard Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the bright and glittering motet Exult, jubilate, written at the beginning of 1773 to Milan by a Mozart just seventeen years old for the famous castrato Venanzio Rauzzini, “first man” in the work Lucio Silla, staged in those days at the Regio Ducal Teatro; the motet was performed for the first time a few days after its composition, on 17 January in the Teatini church in Milan. The concert will close there Second Symphony op. 36 of Ludwig van Beethoven, a work pervaded by energy and serenity, located on the extreme edge of the composer's early works: the influence of tradition, of Haydn and Mozart is still felt, but the change of pace is already palpable, immediately perceived by contemporaries "in the power of genius which in this colossal work is revealed with the richness of new thoughts, in the completely original treatment and in the depth of the doctrine” as stated in a chronicle of the time. After the premiere in Rovereto, the Haydn Orchestra's Christmas Concert will be repeated on December 14 (20.00) at Luis Trenker Cultural Center of Ortisei, and the December 15 (8.30 pm) a Tione of Trent, at theAuditorium.
