Where desire intersects with expression, the two halves of a whole divided by death meet and engage in a long ghostly dance. One can only face the inexorable persistence of memories and the reluctance to step out of the compulsive and pernicious circle arising from the inability to express oneself. As it turns out, the natural flow of desire isn't hard to disrupt. The speech has withered and worn down over the years. And that's why we carve our story on the surface of the ice - at the starting point. The future is possible, but not necessarily permissible. Something like a negotiation is underway, a negotiation anxiously balancing on the tip of a needle embedded deep in the heart of all crystalline winter dreams.

James Layton  is a composer and musician living in London. His work often explores musical forms with the absence of dynamic or other "peaks", which he develops slowly, thus focusing on the comparison of progression and stagnation. Using basic patterns, their variations and repetitions, he aims to draw the listener into the music while exploring the ideas of time and memory. James is the founder and curator of the collaborative record label/label and concert series  Into the Ocean Series, in which he presents new experimental music, especially from budding composers. He is also part of RGMS – a curatorial collective of artists focused on experimental music that produces a wide range of "exploratory" music, from fresh soundscapes, through raw field recordings and controlled chaos to meditative "canopies". He received his BA in composition at the  Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance  under Sam Hayden, Paul Newland, Stephen Montague and Gwyn Pritchard, and also in viola with Richard Crabtree.

Tam, kde se touha protíná s expresí, se setkávají dvě poloviny celku rozděleného smrtí a dávají se do dlouholetého přízračného tance. Nezbývá než stanout tváří v tvář neúprosné vytrvalosti vzpomínek a neochotě vykročit z nutkavého a zhoubného kruhu vznikajícího z neschopnosti se vyjádřit. Jak se ukazuje, přirozený tok touhy není těžké narušit. Řeč léty zchřadla a obrousila se. A proto svůj příběh ryjeme na povrch ledu – ve výchozím bodě. Budoucnost je možná, avšak nikoli nutně přípustná. Rozbíhá se cosi jako vyjednávání, vyjednávání úzkostně balancující na špičce jehly tkvící hluboko v srdci všech krystalických zimních snů.

James Layton je skladatel a hudebník žijící v Londýně. Jeho práce často zkoumá hudební formy s absencí dynamických či jiných „vrcholů“, které pomalu rozvíjí a soustředí se tak na srovnání progrese a stagnace. Využíváním základních vzorců, jejich variací a opakování si klade za cíl vtáhnout posluchače do hudby a zároveň zkoumat myšlenky času a paměti. James je zakladatelem a kurátorem společného nahrávacího vydavatelství/labelu a koncertních řad Into the Ocean Series, ve které představuje novou experimentální hudbu, a to především od začínajících skladatelů. Taktéž je součástí RGMS – kurátorského kolektivu umělců zaměřeného na experimentální hudbu, který produkuje širokou škálu „průzkumnické“ hudby, od svěžích zvukových scén, přes syrové terénní nahrávky a řízený chaos až po meditativní „baldachýny“. Bakalářský titul získal v oboru skladba na Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance pod vedením Sama Haydena, Paula Newlanda, Stephena Montaguea a Gwyna Pritcharda, a také v oboru hra na violu u Richarda Crabtreeho.
