In part twenty-eight of Schubertreise, in which Conor Biggs and Michel Stas continue their exploration of the vast output of Schubert’s songs.

This concert is dominated by the expansive cantata Uraniens Flucht, in which Zeus plays the roles of punisher and redeemer. Equally impressive but utterly different is the last of the ‘Ossian’ settings, Die Nacht. There are also two settings each of Fischerlied and Die Einsiedelei. Schweizerlied, in Swiss dialect, poses a challenge for Irish singers used to singing in Hoch Deutsch.
