Harpagon n’aime que son argent et soupçonne tout le monde de vouloir le lui voler. Pour marier ses deux enfants, il a fait le choix d’une riche veuve pour son fils Cléante et pour sa fille, Élise, du seigneur Anselme, un homme mûr, noble et fort riche. Harpagon est pressé de caser ses enfants pour épouser lui-même une jeune fille pauvre, Marianne, dont la beauté l’a charmé...

The story of the Miser, like all the other great works of Molière, is the story of an unbridled passion, if not mad, which ends up disturbing the social order. Unlike Dom Juan who exists in spending, this is a passion for restriction, return to oneself, restraint, income. We say to ourselves that this is an intelligent staging, which does not overly appeal to the vain pleasures of "proofreading", without however depriving itself, here or there, of clever winks to the taste of the day. Benoin follows the classic deal, without adoring him with too many annoying little finds.
