Sonya Yoncheva dedicates her new album to the music of Verdi and records some of the most important repertoire for the dramatic soprano. For the “Verdi” album she recorded pieces from some of the composer's rarely-performed operas in addition to some of his most beloved ones, including arias from Nabucco, Attila, Luisa Miller, Stiffelio, Il trovatore, Simon Boccanegra, La forza del destino, Otello and Don Carlo. Sonya Yoncheva recorded the album with Verdi specialist Massimo Zanetti and the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra. Release date: February 2, 2018.

Véritable « diva » du monde lyrique, Sonya Yoncheva déploie dans chacun de ses rôles un naturel impressionnant dans le chant actuel et un engagement dramatique qui laisse ébahis les mélomanes du monde entier. On oublierait presque que cette Traviata née s’est formée au sein du baroque Jardin des Voix de William Christie tant elle domine aujourd’hui la scène du bel canto. Qu’on en juge, pas moins de trois prises de rôle – et quels rôles ! – Tosca, Luisa Miller et Elisabeth de Valois, pour la seule saison 2017-2018. Escale en récital ce soir pour un duo en compagnie de son jeune ténor de frère, Marin Yonchev, pour quelques somptueuses perles verdiennes.
