"Matthäuspassion" für Soli, Chor und Orchester, BWV 244

Am Karfreitag ist im Rahmen der stimmungsvollen Reihe "Alte Musik bei Kerzenschein" die "Matthäuspassion" von Johann Sebastian Bach zu erleben. Verschiedenartiges formt sich in ihr zu beeindruckender Einheit: Schlichtheit und Dramatik, Volksnähe und Gelehrtheit, polyfone Struktur und homofoner Klang, Eingängigkeit und Komplexität. Mit zwei getrennt voneinander aufgestellten Chören schuf Bach eine Atmosphäre von ungeheurer Plastizität. Der Leipziger Thomaskantor erzählte mit großer Leidenschaft vom Leiden Christi - das Wort "Passion" birgt beides in sich. Für die glückliche Verbindung von musikalischer Dramatik und historisch informierter Aufführungspraxis sorgen der stilistisch so gewandte RIAS Kammerchor und die Originalklang-Spezialisten der Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.

On Good Friday, Johann Sebastian Bach's "St. Matthew Passion" can be experienced as part of the atmospheric "Early Music by Candlelight" series. Diversity is formed into an impressive unity: simplicity and drama, closeness to the people and erudition, polyphonic structure and homophonic sound, catchiness and complexity. With two separate choirs, Bach created an atmosphere of tremendous plasticity. The Leipzig Thomaskantor spoke with great passion about the suffering of Christ - the word "passion" contains both. The stylistically so versatile RIAS Chamber Choir and the original sound specialists of the Academy for Early Music Berlin ensure the happy combination of musical drama and historically informed performance practice
