Many people have wondered about the sources of inspiration for Mahler 's 7th Symphony . His Nachtmusiken could have been irrigated by the Night Watch, a famous painting by Rembrandt, or even by the poems of Eichendorff. Still, the work, with its five-movement architecture, is one of the composer's most audacious. Sensitive to Mahler's production for having often conducted and recorded it with the ONBA, Paul Daniel gives the 7th a particularly deep restitution, oscillating between light and darkness.
